Pablo Cueco: zarb

Stokley Williams: drums

JT Bates: drums

Patrice: percussion

Pablo Cueco is amongs the greatest virtuosos of the zarb. He has adapted the Iranian wooden drum to a diverse range of musical genres. A member of the unique clarinet, cello and zarb group, the Denis Colin trio, Cueco has directed his own big band and collaborated with Indian flute player Hariprasad Chaurasia. Cueco's improvisational skills were shaped during years of percussion training with Gaston Sylvestre, Jean-Pierre Drouet and the master of the instrument Djamchid Chemirani. His passion for percussion has led him to various percussion ensembles. Having played once with JT Bates and loved it; having seen Stokley Williams and been so impressed; and having heard of the great African conga player Patrice, there was not a shadow of a doubt that he should bring these talents together into tonight’s percussion ensemble.
