Cellist Jacqueline Ferrier-Ultan's versatility allows her to cover a diverse range of music, from classical to rock, jazz, folk, classical and free improvisation. Ferrier graduated with a Master's Degree from Yale University, and since has played with a wide array of innovative and creative artists including world renowned bassist Anthony Cox; singer Peg Carrothers and jazz pianist Bill Carrothers; saxophonist George Cartwright; Chan Poling (The Suburbs) and many others. Jacqueline is currently involved in three different projects including the feisty cello duo known as 'JelloSlave', with fellow cellist Michelle Kinney; 'Anti-Gravity' with guitarist Dean Granros, saxophonist Scott Fultz (FKG), Clarinetist Pat O'Keefe (Zeitgeist) and laptop wizard Steve Goldstein; and Ferrier’s newest endeavor, The Fantastic Merlins.
Ferrier and Kinney will meet Didier Petit, well known French cello player and expert in situations. Petit, a long-time companion of Alan Silva, played and recorded with Daunik Lazro, Jac Berrocal, Roger Turner, Evan Parker, Sylvain Kassap and Yves Robert, among others.
In addition to performing in her own bands (now Jelloslave), Michelle has recorded, performed and toured throughout Europe and the United States with some of the most respected innovators in new music today. Henry Threadgill, Butch Morris, Myra Melford, George Cartwright, Leroy Jenkins, Elliot Sharp, Brandon Ross and Bun-Ching Lam are among the artists calling on Michelle‚s contributions as a cellist. She has also worked extensively in pop music, including many recordings and appearances live and on TV (Tonight Show, Letterman, VHS Storytellers) with Natalie Merchant, several recordings with Sheryl Crow, performance projects with producer Hal Wilner, The Letterman Show with Lou Reed, recording with John Cale, and Richie Havens‚ recent release "Wishing Well".
