As Dorado Schmitt, master of French Gypsy jazz, will be in town next weekend (October 22), it is interesting to hear a group from the Twin Cities playing the music of that heritage on the other side of the Atlantic… and playing it well. The players from the Twin Cities Hot Club have had experiences in various fields, from standards to improvised music and new music including David Byrne, Carei Thomas, Ruggiero Ricci, the Bellcats, Connie Evingson. They carry the spirit of Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli in the Twin Cities with heart and virtuosity, like the masters did.
